Dr S.M.Ahmed needs help for his daughter's medical care

Donation protected
Dr. S.M. Ahmed is a great scientist from India who needs financial help in getting critical medical care for his daughter and to participate in human trials. Right in front of his eyes, his daughter is slipping into a physical devastation and not able to get up. The last 16-years of struggle has brought him to USA where the human trials are just beginning at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. If anyone needs further details, please contact Dr S M Ahmed directly.
Mother: Dr Seema Pooranchand
Ph.D in astronomy from a national laboratory who sacrificed her career to raise her daughter and now takes routine care.

Daughter: Khushboo
M.Sc in Psychology from a federal university. Though she was born normal, but in her 12th year she noticed physical differences with other kids. She fought hard, never ever gave up her struggle to keep the muscle tone in good shape. She has never missed a single physiotherapy session for the last 16 years.
She feels left out from the main track … but her grit and determination to survive keeps her smiling.
Father: Dr S M Ahmed
He played a key role in the Moon Impact Probe (MIP) mission of Chandrayaan-I. When India decided to go to the moon, President Kalam came up with the idea that India must send an object which would “touch” the moon and hence the idea of MIP was taken up by VSSC. Dr. Ahmed has been hand picked from DAEs Institute for Plasma Research to lead a team in building a Commercial off-the-shelf Mass spectrometer in MIP mission.

Dr Ahmed’s instrument CHACE (https://science.sciencemag.org/content/326/5952/568/tab-e-letters), went on to become the first ever Mass spectrometer to work on the daytime of the moon. A copy of the same worked on planet Mars (MENCA) for 8-years and another is revolving around the moon in Chandrayaan-2. CHACE went on discover water on the moon; though the credit lies with NASA, Dr Ahmed fought back with the editorial board team in convincing that chronologically the credit should stay with CHACE.
The revolution of building science experiments for extra terrestrial experiments started with CHACE has yielded FOURTEEN state of the art experiments, India has attempted in the past 15 years. Of course, all of them may not be COTS turned into deep space qualified. The Aditya mission for sun carries 8-world class instruments all built right here on Indian soil.

On a personal front, Dr Ahmed and Dr Pooranchand got a huge jolt as their 11-year old daughter was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). He left ISRO when the country's best minds (Sree Chitra Institute, Tvm, NIMHANS, Bangalore) told him that his daughter's future is DARK, with no further explanation of what further can be done. They desperately need your support to help his daughter gain muscle strength. He has made arrangements with one novel Physiotherapy at San Diego which would aid Khusboo’s muscles to gain strength. The Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus has accepted to see their daughter for an experimental project to assess her type of Muscular Dystrophy.
The money donated will 100% go to the expenses related to his daughter's treatment and travel to the USA.
