In the blink of an eye, life throws a curve ball at you and smacks you right in the face. The curve ball for our family, my sister, being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, that’s metastasized to the brain and bone. She never smoked a day in her life. So, how did this happen and where do we go from here? The first thing is to call on Jesus Christ, who we, as an entire family, believe He’s in control of everything in our lives. From there, the search continues with the best team of doctors to fight this unwelcomed guest who has taken up residence in my sister’s body. We found that in the doctors at the Miami Cancer Institute. As the weeks and months go on, we have seen her deteriorate; this is the woman who was always on the go, participated in almost every organization in The Bahamas that you can think of. I often wondered where she found the time to teach high school full time, teach college at night, direct a youth choir, a mass choir, participate in the Rotary Club, The Student Christian Movement, Girls Brigade, and yes, still raise a family at the same time. The doctors say my sister’s prognosis is grim, but we believe healing comes from above and we are holding on to that. As we see the pain wrecking her body, every time I say something about her husband her face lights up. Because of medical expenses they are separated, as her health deteriorates all she wants is her husband by her side. I need your help to make that happen. Ezra needs to not have to worry about finances during this difficult time in their lives. We need your help. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but whatever that is, Selma, Ezra and our entire family will face it together. Thanks for your support.
