*Update as of 1.28.21* First, Thank you for all of your support and prayers during this time.

Dr. Ray continues to have intense pain throughout his body, low blood pressure, remains very drowsy, and extremely weak. He will need a second surgery on his leg due to necrotic vasculitis.

As of today, he is not medically stable to leave the hospital. We will try to post updates along the way.

----------
Background:
At the end of December, Dr. James M. Ray and Mrs. Tracee Ray were experiencing symptoms and diagnosed with the Coronavirus (Covid-19). Both have been on the frontlines providing healthcare services to the Naples, Florida community for years and during the pandemic. They are the proud parents of an 8 year-old son: Blu Ray.

On January 9, 2021, Dr. Ray was hospitalized via ambulance due to weakness, severe dehydration and malnourishment. Since his hospitalization, his kidneys have been severely affected and he has undergone surgery on his leg. Dr. Ray was extremely weak, was unable to pick up his phone or use his cell light to communicate with anyone, and had great difficulty sipping through a straw. Other complications that have surfaced and are related to the Covid-19 diagnosis include: newly diagnosed Diabetes Type 2, venous stasis, additional DVTs in his groin requiring a heparin drip and long-term anticoagulation, sepsis with confusion, malnourishment, and depression. Additional surgery may be required for his leg necessitating a biologic graft to promote healing.

Dr. Ray has spent over 2 weeks in the hospital and anticipates discharge home to his family in the future. His wife, Tracee will then provide 24-hour nursing care to support his recovery. He will also need home health care services for wound care and wound vac dressing changes, IV antibiotic administration, and weekly lab work. In addition, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services will help him foster his strength and endurance.

Both Dr. Ray and Tracee have not been able to work for over a month and his recovery process will prolong their return to employment. Their employer offers limited Covid-19 assistance for employees.

This family realizes and knows many people are struggling during the 2020 pandemic. They have been impacted financially, physically, and emotionally.

This GoFundMe page has been established to help Dr. Ray and Tracee Ray with financial support to help pay for medical and personal expenses during this difficult time. After Dr. Ray is discharged from the hospital, neither he or Tracee are able to return to full-time employment right away. They would deeply appreciate any financial support or assistance at this time.

Although Dr. Ray and Tracee have authorized this account, it is not in their nature to ask for assistance.

Dr. Ray is consistently generous with his time, resources and in providing medical care for his community. He hopes to continue to give back once he fully recovers.
