Dr. Raul Hernandez Memorial Fundraiser
Donation protected
In December we lost one of our dear friends and amazing colleagues, Raul Hernandez, MD. For those who never had the chance to meet Raul, he was one of our Emergency Medicine associates. He started his Kaiser career at South Bay but transitioned to West Los Angeles after the birth of his son to shorten his commute and spend more time with his family.
In his short time at Kaiser Raul touched the lives of everyone he met with his infectious smile and constantly upbeat personality. He was one of the team members that made his fellow doctors and nurses excited about coming to work with.
Raul was a graduate of Charles R. Drew University in the Class of 2014. He was drawn to the school’s mission to provide training to historically underserved groups and help them to pay it forward in their communities.
After his passing the Charles R. Drew alumni association unanimously agreed to rename the Class of 2014 Scholarship fund the “Dr. Raul Hernandez ’14 Memorial Scholarship.” This scholarship will be awarded to a medical student at Charles R. Drew University who exemplifies Raul’s values—someone with a deep dedication to community service and a drive to create meaningful change for those who need it most. Through this scholarship, Raul’s legacy of kindness, leadership, and service will continue to inspire, leaving a lasting impact on future generations of students and the communities they will serve.
Raul is survived by his wife Dr. Catie Cambou-Hernandez and his three year old son, Miles.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will be split 50/50 between Miles’ 529 savings account and the Dr. Raul Hernandez Memorial Scholarship.
Raul will be dearly missed but this is one small way we can foster his love and commitment in the next generation.
