Dr. Kenneth Logan's medical bills

Donation protected
As some of you may know, my chiropractor and friend of 27+ years, Dr. Kenneth Logan (Logan Chiropractic Life Center), has just been released from Northside Cherokee Hospital after an unexpected 38 day stay.

Back on April 17th, Doc came home from his Mom’s 90th birthday celebration in Alabama, and he fell ill.  He tried to see patients in the clinic, but was coughing and having trouble catching his breath.  His secretary convinced him to go to an Urgent Care facility so that he could start on some type of treatment to help him breathe easier.  For those of you who know Dr. Logan, he shuns conventional medicine whenever possible, so that he can try natural alternatives (vitamins, Emergen-C, charcoal tablets, essential oil diffusers, etc).  So we knew that he must REALLY be sick to resort to a medical doctor.

At the Urgent Care clinic, they told him he needed to get to a hospital right away.  Rather than pay for an ambulance to take him, Doc drove himself (are we surprised?). They admitted him into the hospital (regular room), but since he had such trouble breathing later that night, they moved him into the ICU.

From Friday, April 19th until Tuesday, April 30th, Dr. Logan was in a medically-induced coma. At first, the hospital doctors thought he had pneumonia.  Then, after a series of tests, they determined that he had para-influenza.  There is no vaccine for para-influenza and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has no treatment program for this illness.  The doctors just had to keep him sedated so that his body could begin the healing process.

During this period, the doctors kept trying to bring him out of sedation so that they could remove the breathing tube and see if Doc could breathe on his own.  Each time they tried, he would start to breathe rapidly, his heart rate would go up and his blood pressure would elevate to within ‘stroke range’, so the doctors would have to put him back under again. They kept trying different kinds of meds for the sedation, hoping his body would react differently the next time they tried to bring him out of sedation.

Finally, on May 1st (after almost 2 weeks in a coma), the doctors were able to wake Dr. Logan up.  Things were looking much better, but after just 2 days, he had to be put under sedation again, because he wasn’t breathing well enough on his own.

A week or so later, he was finally breathing on his own, and beginning to respond to people around him.  Left so weak from being bed-ridden for nearly 3 weeks, he had to undergo physical therapy, where he had to learn how to use a walker, how to feed himself, how to shower, etc.

Thanks to many prayers, Doc started to recover by leaps and bounds!  Another 2 weeks later, and Doc was released from the hospital, weak as a kitten.

He came home, only to discover that his utilities had been cut off and his chiropractic clinic was on the brink of being shut down!  Now he needs more than just prayers; he needs financial assistance to get back on his feet.  He’s too weak to spend more than an hour or two in his office each day, so not only does he need money to pay his past-due bills (and the enormous medical bills from his hospital stay), but he also needs funds to help him survive while he gets back on his feet (literally).

If you could please see your way to donating whatever you can towards Dr. Logan’s bills, he would be eternally grateful.  If you could pass this GoFundMe page on to any of his patients, he would greatly appreciate it.
