Dr. Jason Sweeney Covid Memorial Fund

Hello, my name is Mandi (Sweeney) Daws.

On Friday, January 14th 2022, my big brother, Dr. Jason Sweeney, was taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. There, he was diagnosed with Covid 19, and our lives were changed forever. He was placed in the Covid unit, given oxygen, and treated for his symptoms.

On January 26th his health took a turn and he was sedated and placed on a ventilator in the Covid ICU. Yesterday, Saturday February 5th, 2022, Jason lost his fight against this horrid, awful disease. I was blessed to have the opportunity to travel from my home in Lincoln, Nebraska to be with him, hold his hand, and tell him how much he was loved.

Today I begin the fight to help my sister-in-law, Jeni Sweeney, find some peace and dig her way out of the extreme cavern of grief and debt in which this tragedy has left her. Jason was a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and Neuro-Emotional Technique practitioner, who transformed lives and was beloved by the many patients he has helped over the years and has now left behind.

Jason was the breadwinner in the family, as Jeni is disabled and can only work part time. While he took the best care of his patients, he did not have health insurance or life insurance for himself. I believe my big brother thought himself invincible, even though we have been brutally shown that he was not.

Right now, Jeni is drowning in sorrow, drowning in the unknown, and drowning in medical debt and funeral expenses. She is responsible for all the ongoing business costs, including rent and utilities, of a chiropractic clinic that she can’t use. I am asking everyone I know: family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew Jason, is involved in the Chiropractic community, or has been touched by this horrible disease, to please help our family climb out from under this tragic experience.
