In Memory of Dr. Gemma Harris
Donation protected
This Go Fund me was created in memory of Dr. Gemma Harris. In a huge shock to her family and friends, Gemma suddenly departed on June 25, 2024, aged only 47. She will be sorely missed by many, especially her 2-year old son, Ezra Clarke-Harris. This page has been created to enable those who would like to support Ezra to make donations for his upbringing and well-being, in Gemma’s absence, and to leave any memories and tributes that you would like to share.
Dr. Harris’s professional career started in the UK, providing mental health services within the prison system. In 2012, she moved to Bermuda, working as a Coordinator/Psychologist for the Government of Bermuda’s Probation Service (Department of Court Services). In 2017, she joined Solstice, a holistic wellness center. She was a regular columnist for the local Royal Gazette newspaper in Bermuda, making frequent contributions on dealing with mental health issues. She was also a social media blogger, providing mental health advice and support. A highlight of her career was attending the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, where she provided counseling to athletes.
Gemma had a particular zest for life. Not only was she a dedicated psychologist, but she also had an effortless healing nature, that was felt by all those that came across her path. Those who knew her were touched by her playful charm and warm personality. Her laughter lit up a room and she made those around her feel heard, understood and loved. She had a passion for salsa dancing, caring for animals and traveling the world. A vibrant extrovert, Gemma will be missed by a wide variety of friends and family.
Two years ago, Gemma accomplished her greatest goal in life, when she became a mother to her son, Ezra. From the very start of her pregnancy and throughout her time as a mother, she had an extra twinkle of joy in her eye. Gemma and Ezra shared a deep and unparalleled bond. When Gemma was in the room, Ezra would only have eyes for her, which she loved, as snuggles with Ezra very quickly became one of her favorite pastimes. Gemma displayed amazing positivity and joy as a mother, which was enhanced by her incredibly fun-loving nature.
She looked at Ezra like he was the greatest thing on earth, which he absolutely was to her. Like her family and friends, we don't believe Gemma imagined her untimely death was possible at this stage in her life and she hadn't yet set aside any additional funds or savings which would have supported her son in achieving the life she would have wanted for him. Any support that you are able to provide to Ezra would be greatly appreciated by Gemma and her family.
We are also collating memories, tributes, videos and photos of Gemma. Please submit to the memorial website below so that when Ezra is older, he knows how truly special his Mummy was and how much she loved him.
