Dr Frederick Norkeh - Emergency Funeral Travel

Thank you in advance for your kind words, love, prayers, and support. Many of you have asked how to help. Our biggest wish is to have his children at his funeral ($10,500 for flight tickets for the three of them), plus visa fees, passport fees, and assistance with unpaid time off from work.

Dr. Frederick Norkeh.

My dad was the kindest + most intelligent human I knew. His nickname was “Walking Google.” You could ask him ANY question, and he’ll have an answer with first and last names, correct dates, and a detailed explanation. He loved to learn and educate others. Along with his brilliance, he had the biggest heart.

Besides family, his love and passions are LIBERIA and the Liberian PEOPLE. His constant thought was, “how can I improve Liberia?" He lived every day serving his country.

He was born in Liberia, lost his mother at a young age and took on caring for his beloved siblings. He was a gifted and intelligent student and received a scholarship to come to the US to get an education. Years later, he met my mom (he was the guest speaker at a Liberian conference — presenting ways to improve Liberia). They later married and had three children; Siamah, Laytee, and Nancy.

He got his PhD and was called on by the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, to come to Liberia to serve under the Liberian government as Deputy Minister of Commerce and later Minister of Postal Telecommunications. He was a dedicated Leader in Liberia and made some HUGE positive changes for the country.

He moved his wife and daughters from The US to Liberia in 2007. He and his wife, Bulleh Bablitch-Norkeh, started helping women who experienced horrific stories of war-torn tragedies, rape, prostitution, beatings, hunger, homelessness and hopelessness — by creating a non-profit organization, Girl Power Africa.

GPA empowers hundreds of women with goods to sell and helps send children to school. Each year they send 580+ students to school with a full year of tuition paid, uniforms, and school supplies, and over 500+ women start businesses.

I could go on for days about all of the accomplishments he’s made impacting the world. But his most recent project comes to mind first….

He heard stories of people having to travel hours just to get to a hospital. So, he took matters into his own hands and started planning and building a new hospital in Gbapa. That was who he was….he saw an issue, created a solution, and made it happen. He was so excited about this project.... people will no longer need to travel hours in pain or poor health.

Unfortunately, yesterday he had to make the long drive in an emergency and didn’t make it. (We genuinely appreciate the hospital’s efforts once he arrived). In The US, there would have been an ambulance, emergency surgery, one or two days of recovery, and then you’re back home. But that wasn’t the case. We are saddened that he won’t be coming home with us or that he won’t get to see his loved ones or completed project(s)—but his legacy will continue to save lives, better the lives of Liberians, and live on through his family.

Please keep my mom, Bulleh Bablitch-Norkeh, my sisters and me in your prayers. We need all the healing prayers and good energy as we navigate this new chapter of life.

Thank you deeply.
