Dr. Diane Johnson STEM Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected

Dr. Diane Johnson, a 33 year education veteran,  and long term educator and member of the Hillside High School community, passed away on Saturday May 2, 2020 in Durham, NC. She was diagnosed with an extremely rare but aggressive neuroendocrine tumor in January 2020, and battled this condition as hard as she could.

She long supported the advancement of vulnerable students into math and science related professions. She did this work by supporting Hillside teachers as an instructional facilitator for nearly 10 years, as a teacher for more than 20 years, and as a servant to the Hillside community through sports, tutoring, mentorship, and many other activities.

To honor her legacy, we- her families at home, at Hillside, at NCCU, and NC State- are establishing a set of STEM Scholarships for Hillside High School seniors of at least $1,000 each for as many as your support creates Eligible student applicants will receive the funds to support books and supplies while attending college.
