With deep sadness, we share the news of the passing of Dr. Chinyelu Judith Obionu Okafor, a cherished classmate, colleague, and a dedicated mother to three young children, who passed away on May 8, 2025. Despite her courageous battle with cancer, Chinyelu remained steadfast in her commitment to her family and profession. She persevered through adversity and in 2024 achieved her goal of becoming a GMC-registered doctor, practising in the UK to ensure a better future for her children.

Chinyelu was not only a beacon of strength but also a beloved daughter the renowned doyen of Community Medicine, Professor Obionu a senior colleague and mentor who has inspired many within our medical community. Her journey, marked by hope, resilience and determination, touched the lives of all who knew her.

Today, we unite to support Chinyelu's children during this difficult time. The funds raised will go directly towards the essential needs and future education of her beloved children, ensuring they continue to thrive despite the loss of their mother.
