Millennial Juneteenth is a millennial-led organization dedicated to preserving Black American history, promoting civic engagement, advancing economic empowerment, and creating opportunities for future generations. Since its founding, the organization has worked to ensure that the legacy of Juneteenth is not only celebrated as a historical milestone but also used as a catalyst for education, community development, and meaningful action. Through public events, cultural programming, educational initiatives, and community partnerships, Millennial Juneteenth continues to build spaces where history, culture, and progress intersect.
One of the organization’s signature initiatives is the Annual Millennial Juneteenth Festival, a community celebration that brings together hundreds of residents, families, businesses, artists, educators, and community leaders. The festival serves as a platform to honor the history of Black American resilience and achievement while providing access to cultural experiences, live entertainment, educational resources, health and wellness information, youth activities, and economic opportunities through Black-owned vendors and entrepreneurs. The festival has become an important tradition that strengthens community bonds and promotes awareness of the ongoing work needed to achieve equity and opportunity.
To further its mission of education and empowerment, Millennial Juneteenth established the Dr. Ayesha Imani Educational Excellence Scholarship in honor of the late Dr. Ayesha Imani’s legacy of scholarship, leadership, and service. The scholarship is designed to support graduating students pursuing higher education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), with a focus on students from Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter School and School District of Philadelphia Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. By helping students overcome financial barriers to higher education, the scholarship invests directly in the next generation of leaders, educators, innovators, and community advocates.
Funds raised will support the sustainability and growth of Millennial Juneteenth’s mission, including the Annual Juneteenth Festival, the Dr. Ayesha Imani Educational Excellence Scholarship, year-round educational programming, and the Millennial Juneteenth Film Festival. Together, these initiatives create opportunities for learning, cultural preservation, leadership development, and community engagement while ensuring that the stories, contributions, and aspirations of Black Americans remain at the center of our collective future. By supporting this effort, donors are helping build a lasting legacy that celebrates our past, strengthens our present, and invests in generations to come.
