Dear Friends,

I’m reaching out to share something deeply personal and important to me. For almost two years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of knowing and working with Dr. Danita Applewhite, a truly inspiring woman who has profoundly impacted my life. Her positivity, resilience, and unwavering spirit have not only uplifted me but also taught me how kindness is universal.

Dr. Applewhite, or “Apple”, as I affectionately call her, has faced countless challenges with grace and light, proving to me that no matter what obstacles life presents, there is always a reason to rise and shine. Despite her car accident (involving a drunk driver) that caused Dr. Applewhite to become paralyzed, alongside her other 13 diagnoses, she continues to not only teach but demonstrate adaptability to any curveball life throws at you. Apple has truly become a role model and mentor to me since day one, showing me how to approach each day with courage and compassion.

White Apple Institute, founded by Dr. Applewhite (an Army Veteran herself), is a vital organization that provides essential support and services to underserved individuals, prioritizing Veterans, with visual impairments and/or disabilities. The work they do is transformative, connecting people with life-changing resources and fostering independence.

Right now, the Institute urgently needs our help to continue its mission. Since the pandemic, donations have been incredibly slow and unfortunately without any funding, White Apple Institute will have to close its doors—which will result in many Veterans losing vital services.
