Many of you know my dog Bandit. He is the sweetest boy and has been my best friend for just under 10 years now. The last two weeks, he has fallen very ill, basically out of nowhere. He has stopped eating almost completely and lost most of his body weight. I have taken him to the vet and had some tests done that came back fine, and we have given him medicine to try to get his appetite back and his gut health under control.
The next step is to do more tests and medical interventions to see if we can find the problem and treat it promptly. I feel like I’m just watching him die and am so completely helpless because I cannot afford to get him the care he needs.
Unfortunately, I’ve already spent more money than I have at the vet, and my family is finding ourselves going into a significant amount of debt as we navigate moving, job transitions, and caring for our two boys.
In the last two years, I’ve lost family members and two pets out of nowhere, and watching Bandit suffer is torture for my family. Bandit was there for me when I lived alone. We did everything together. He has been with me through some of the hardest times of my life and I love him so much. I just want to do anything and everything I can to make him better.
ETA: After taking him to the vet again, we found that he has an overgrowth of bacteria in his GI tract which has led to infection. He was also extremely dehydrated and is currently 30lbs underweight. Bandit has received fluids and various medications and we hope that this will lead him to recovery and we can get him healthy again.
in total, we have spent just over $1300 on veterinary care.
Anything will help give my best friend the care he deserves. Thank you for reading/sharing.
