Still Around - Simon Lambert Album

Simon “Jimmy” Nolan Lambert loved, lived and breathed music. Music was his life. Influenced by his father Paul Lambert, they listened to 60's music together especially The Beatles and Beach Boys.

His first instrument was an old guitar from Grant Warmsley (Screaming Jets) when he was 12 years old. He started the band “Red Drink” at St Mary's High School Gateshead and they won the Mattara Rockfest High School Band Comp and also supported the Screaming Jets.

After High School Simon started writing songs and thus began his alter ego "Jimmy Nolan". One of those songs called “Find Someone” is a special tribute to his father who he tragically lost at only 14 yrs of age. Jimmy Nolan released his first EP Loose Tobacco in 2001 winning the Salvation Army Songwriting Competition that same year.

At this stage Simon decided to take a couple of years out travelling the world with his guitar and you could find him regularly busking on the streets of Edinburgh or London. On his return to Australia Simon started the band Old Sound Central which was a throwback to good old fashioned rock and roll playing at numerous venues around the country.

A great job then took him to Sydney where he started the band Day After Midnight. Simon had over 50 original songs to choose from and he began preparing to record an album.

Sadly, Simon never got to record the album. In 2009 he died as a result of falling from his one-storey terrace in Newtown whilst sleep walking.

The amazingly talented Adam Schilli has spent the last 6 years sorting through the demos that had been recorded and trying to reform the latest recordings.

Adam Schilli has recently moved back to Newcastle and joined Stephen Askew and Ben Russell over the past six years re-recording guitars, bass, drums and backing vocals to get the album up to scratch.

So we are ready now to finish the album but this is not a cheap exercise and that is why we have started a crowd funding page to assist with the costs. We are looking for $8,500 to cover all the costs of mixing, mastering and production. We have also put a band together consisting of members of Simons past bands to release the album later this year.

We need the funds by the end of May so that we can have the album ready for launch in August when we  will hold the "Concert for Jimmy".

This album means the world to his family and friends and will also mean something to music lovers as Simon was an extremely talented song writer.

We will be forever thankful if you can help us in this cause and you will also receive a CD with pics and lyrics if you donate $30 or more.

Thank you thank you thank you xxxxxxxxxx
