Hit by a drunk driver

My really good friend Krystal was in a serious car accident after being hit by a drunk driver. She has already had two surgeries and is now being declined services due to our broken healthcare and insurance systems. It is messy.

I have known Krystal for 5 years. I met her as acoworker at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room during the inaugural year of the Roastery in Seattle, WA.

Eventually Krystal moved back to the Los Angeles area. We are still very close friends. We try to talk at least once a week.

She needs to have another surgery in order to be able to walk again. She will also need to learn how to walk again.

This GoFundMe is to help her financially as a legal and insurance battle begins. 

Here are some facts

Underinsured woman of color who should have been taken to a trauma center was taken to the lowest rated hospital in Gardena, CA.

Meanwhile the drunk driver (race and gender unknown) was taken to the trauma center.

Two days later the victim was recommended to go back through the ER at the trauma center.

Who by the way can’t walk and was forced to take an ambulance home. The ambulance couldn’t take her to another hospital because that would be considered a transfer.



She then had to call 911 again to be taken to a trauma center via ambulance.

Our system is so broken. My heart is so broken.
