As some of you may know, my neighbor and friend, Jessica Freijomel was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast cancer in 2019 at age 36. It was definitely a shock to her and her family, and a diagnosis no one expects to get at such a young age. In June of 2019, she had a double mastectomy followed by reconstruction. As you can understand, that was a very difficult decision to make and it was a very emotional time. In addition to the surgeries to remove the cancer, she dealt with several recurring infections that would not go away. As a result, she had to have additional surgeries and ended up losing both implants.
Her doctors recommended a complete hysterectomy to minimize the chances of the cancer returning. The doctors assured her the surgeries were successful and declared her cancer-free with an 82% chance that it would never return!
As you can imagine, the medical bills due to cancer are astronomical. Jessica exhausted all of her savings that she had accumulated during her ten-year career as a Senior Compliance Manager.
Now, less than two years later, here we are again. The cancer has returned with a vengeance and metastasized into her bones. She is now Stage 4 and in for a tough fight. She has started chemo treatments and is very anxious and scared about the side effects. She is determined to beat this cancer and will continue working throughout the process.
Jessica is a person who gives back. She supports friends and family in any way possible. She has coached her son’s baseball team for several years, but unfortunately, this year, she will not be able to be as involved , which is very disappointing.
In talking with her, she said, “I am a single mom of a precious 10 year old boy who is the light of my life! I plan on being around for a long time, so I can raise him and watch him grow! I am now under the care of Emory Winship Cancer Center, thank goodness, but insurance costs and out of pocket expenses are quickly accruing. Since I exhausted all of my savings with the first battle, I need some help!"
Many of her wonderful family and friends have reached out and expressed their love and have asked how they can help. The outpouring of love has been very humbling and I know the last thing she wants to do is ask for help, but she needs it. The best way anyone can help right now is to take some of the financial stress off her plate.
Any size donation would be greatly appreciated and helpful! I know that many people are praying for her physical and financial healing, for which we are all very grateful.
