Archbishop Stepinac HS Tuition

Dear Friends,
On June 26, 2016 I will be running the Fairfield Half Marathon (http://www.fairfieldhalf.org )
to raise money for tuition to help send an amazing kid to Stepinac HS in White Plains. He is a bright and talented young boy bursting with personality. He is being raised by a very hard working single mother who is fighting to just support their basic needs and I would like to share a story with you about him from our good friends Tom and Dina Parrotta.
A few years ago when Tom was working at Fordham University, he met a young boy, who shared Tom’s love for basketball and was the quintessential “gym rat”. His name is Abdou and a friendship ensued and mutual respect for each other blossomed. He was not being challenged in his current high school, a New York City public school. Tom and his family wanted to make a difference in his life and had conversations with Abdou and his mother concerning his education and how they could make an impact.
They brought Abdou and his Mom to visit Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains to apply for admission. He was accepted and finished his first semester as a junior. He plays basketball on The Varsity B Team, which practices at 6:30am prior to school. He has adjusted well and his grades have not suffered and he is now finally being challenged academically.
A small group of us has taken it upon ourselves to make an investment in Abdou’s life and promised his mother that his tuition would be taken care. As a friend, I would ask that you too make a difference in Abdou’s life. I chose to run the Fairfield Half as Tom is now on the coaching staff at Fairfield University and I also encourage everyone with a passion for basketball to attend a game as it is a great family event.
