If you’re reading this odds, are you know the story of how Jackson found his home. A few years ago, Jackson was found wandering near flushing Meadows park with a harness on and a blanket tucked in- he was abandoned on a very chilly night. My poor boy was clearly malnourished & left to fend for himself. We had fostered him and quickly fell in love with this big baby and his huge floppy ears. Fast-forward to 2025, where this big baby now weighs 95 pounds, sleeps under a down comforter in our king bed & lives his best life with his brothers, Parker and Finn. Back in May Jackson was running in the yard playing with his brothers when he collided with a ladder. The foot of the ladder nearly cut him in half. He had a massive wound with very deep pocketing & alot of bleeding. Immediately I knew I was taking him to VEG (the best ER for pets). That night Jackson went under General anesthesia for over four hours and received over 100 stitches, internal and externally. He remained on heavy sedation medication for weeks & as many of you know nothing is ever simple with our boy Jackson. The vet explained to us that given how large Jacksons wound was, and how deep the trauma extended- the risk infection was very high and he would likely need recurrent surgeries to help close this wound.
In the following two weeks, Jackson had a total of four visits to VEG and two additional surgeries to close his wound - multiple debridements/ washouts and closures. He quickly became a favorite at VEG (we now know everyone by name). @VEG, jackson is also known as Miss Stephanie’s boyfriend. It’s hard not to fall in love with this big mush so i dont blame them!
Jackson had been doing so well after his stitches were removed in the beginning of June until I got a phone call today. Our dog walker let me know that while Jackson had his Zoomies in the backyard, an area of his scar ripped open, and he was bleeding. I immediately left work and came home to my boy & I knew exactly where he needed to go. Jackson had another procedure today under sedation to close the area that opened to clean out dead tissue on one side of the wound. This has been a never-ending nightmare for us & im just trying my best to do absolutely everything necessary to keep my boy comfortable and help him heal. With a new baby due in just three short months & all of these vet bills I just feel like I’m never gonna get to the other side of this. I’m not the type to ask for help quite honestly I feel funny putting this together but we have had many friends and family suggest setting up a GoFundMe. Anything helps- even just a prayer that this is the last of this big booboo for our boy. Thank you for taking the time to read this & for thinking of us.
