Mom's back surgery
Donation protected
Hi, this GoFundMe is for my mom. In January, while attempting to move a piece of furniture, my mom felt that she injured herself. she waited a bit to see if it would get better and when It didn't, she went and looked for help. Initially, and for a long time, they thought that it had something to do with a pulled muscle or an injury to something in her hip. They got her to do physiotherapy, and they gave her numbing and cortisone injections. She also got massage and chiropractic help and had nerve manipulation done, but none of that seemed to help and she ended up in bed for a couple of weeks. In late spring, it looked as though things were letting up a little bit and, sometimes with the aid of crutches, or using things like a shopping cart for support, she was able to be up and about for short periods of time until it got too painful and she had to sit or lay down again. This was incredible timing, and now seems like a miracle, because it allowed her to see her grandson graduate!! Shortly after that, it took a dramatic turn for the worse and has not let up. She finally had the correct MRI done and it has shown bulging discs and some deterioration in her spine. They also believe that a lot of her pain is coming from inflammation around her spine and it's what is causing the severe nerve pain down one leg and some numbing in her toes, as well as cramping and burning sensations down that leg. She is bed ridden about 80% of the time and uses a wheel chair, or occasionally crutches when needed, to go to the bathroom or get to doctor appointments. She is on 4 strong medications to try and keep her pain manageable, but that's taking a toll on her mentally, and the doctors say it's not good for the organs long term. She also had to start blood pressure medication because her blood pressure was crazy high, which they think could be due to the high level of pain she's in all the time. We recently were told that it could take 1.5 - 2 years to get back surgery here so my dad started researching other possibilities and found a surgeon in California who is well known for this type of surgery and he believes he can help her walk again, without pain, and fix her back. She has been scheduled for surgery on October 23rd and because she can't sit for more than 15-30 minutes at a time, on a good day, they have decided to drive down for the surgery so she can lie down while traveling. The surgery is suppose to cost around $30,000 plus there is 9+ days of travel costs involved.
We're looking to raise $38,000.

lot of her days look like but we're praying that she can get back to camping and fishing, playing with her grandkids and living her best life. If you are able and willing to help with the costs, my parents would be very grateful. Thank you for your help.
