Ryanne goes to Taiwan/Gov School

Hi, my name is Ryanne Mills and I live in Northern Virginia near Washington D.C. I am currently in 10th grade at the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland. This upcoming summer I have two amazing opportunities to travel and learn.

My school has planned a global studies trip to Taiwan. I would love to go on this trip because I have been studying Chinese for 4 years (since 7th grade). Traveling to Taiwan is a great way to improve my Chinese speaking and writing skills and learn more about Chinese culture and way of life. While this trip is expensive, Bullis has graciously given me 25% financial aid. My goal is to raise even more money to lower the cost of this $4000 trip.
我的学校计划明年暑假去台湾旅游。我很想去，因为我从7年级开始学中文。去台湾旅游可以帮助我练习说中文，写中文，和学习中国的文化。但是，去台湾很贵，我的学校给我75 折的奖学金，但是我还是需要大家帮忙。
In addition to traveling and learning about other cultures, I also love to sing. As a way to improve my singing skills and meet new friends with similar interests and talents, I have applied to Virginia's Governor School for Performing Arts at Radford University, which is 4 hours drive from my home. This is a four-week long summer course where I will be taught vocal instruction by professional and accomplished voice instructors. I am excited for this trip as well because I have been attending an after-school program called School of Rock for three years, been in Bullis' choir since middle school, and been in various school musicals and performances since first grade. The cost of this program is $1250, which is why I am fundraising for this trip, too.
