Help Katie Fix Her Car
Donation protected
So here is the story: on my birthday, my car broke down and luckily my repair guy was able to pick me up and take my car to his shop. The bad news is that the gasket is completely blown in my engine.
I always thought "Blowing a gasket" was a just a turn of phrase, but as it turns out it's a real thing.
First off, I want to say that this is an absolute last resort for me, and I am truly TRULY humbled and equally embarrassed to be asking for help. Even though (as many of my friends and family keep telling me that asking for help is a never a bad thing) I wish I didn't have to admit that I don't have the money to fix it. After spending ALL of my savings on other emergencies this year, I am out of options and and looking to my community and the kindness of strangers and friends for assistance. But that doesn't mean I am more deserving than anyone else. I would never put my problems in front of a family that can't eat or afford medical care. This situation is just really bad for me in terms of my medical appointments, my job commitments, and being able to fill medications and pick them up as needed.
Bottom line:
I have to have a car to drive to work in Los Angeles, drive to my doctor's appointments, and my many other specialist appointments. There have been suggestions to sell it for parts or to trade it in, but right now that isn't possible due to the state of the car market here.
The total repair is $2100 but I want to make it clear that I would never EVER blow money on something selfish like shoes or movies or anything like that. And I don't expect or demand that anyone or any group of people meet that goal. All of you who took the time to read through this - I truly appreciate each and every one of you. And it means EVERYTHING to me to receive any sort of help for this situation. I just want to thank everyone who took the time to read this and who took the time to share this GoFundMe.
All funds will be used to fix the car, anything left over will go towards the car but if it's a significant amount left over I will donate it to: https://secure.lafoodbank.org/site/Donation2?df_id=3381&mfc_pref=T&3381.donation=form1&utm_source=sem&utm_medium=google-ppc&utm_campaign=need-continues&gclid=Cj0KCQiA3fiPBhCCARIsAFQ8QzWgkgHcbSXUZjisXmUkY0O_JPJzsfRKhN-56ArpUOU1PLtbJWmx8BIaAq4WEALw_wcB
