Steph's Transition Fund !

Hello !

I am Steph, a 23 year old trans woman from the UK.

I'm gonna keep this short and simple:

Transitioning is expensive. Unfortunately, it's also essential.

I have been on the NHS Gender Identity Clinic's waiting list for well over 3 years now, so I've been forced to go private with all related healthcare for the entirety of my transition.

Between hormone therapy, laser hair removal, admin costs, and voice lessons, I have already spent thousands of pounds and with the waiting list being another 3 years AT LEAST I'm probably going to be paying thousands more.

I also need some surgeries, which are going to be impossible for me to raise the funds for myself.

As you may know, the UK is rapidly becoming a scary and unsafe place for trans people. Our rights are being stripped and there is no serious political opposition to this, with sizable elements of all (!) British parties content to either join in or stand back and watch. Some of those in power have already outlined plans to push this to extremes once the UK leaves the European Convention of Human Rights - a frighteningly likely future. This represents a hard red line for me, and if it happens I will be forced to look to escape the country, like so many other British trans people.

As you can imagine, this will not be easy or cheap.

With the proceeds I will be primarily looking to fund my surgeries, although should I need to I may have to draw on it to pay some of my ongoing medical costs. And, of course, I may need to use it to flee the country should it come to that.

Should there be anything left over once I have my surgeries I will donate that to charities and similar funds.
