Hi, my name is Jacob Fenton and during the early morning hours of April 27th, just 10 days after celebrating her 65th birthday, my beautiful mother, Brenda Harkwell, suffered a sudden and severe brain aneurysm. She is currently in the fight of her life at UNMH Neurological ICU and has undergone a successful endovascular coil placement. Every day is different than the next and it is EXTREMELY heartbreaking and the hardest thing me and our family have had to go through seeing her in the condition she is in!
Brenda has worked her entire adult life since the age of 18, following her mother's footsteps as a hairdresser, owning her own salon for over 25 years in the tight-knit community of Cedar Crest, New Mexico. During all those years, she has built a long list of amazing clients/friends and has touched so many people's lives not only as a hairdresser but as their personal and cheaper therapist, fashion consultant, motivator, supporter, confidence builder, and most importantly, an open ear even just to listen, as well as a supportive lifelong friend to ANYONE that has sat in her chair!
My mom has a long road to recovery ahead of her, but if you know one thing about my mom Brenda, it is that she is the strongest woman I have been blessed to ever know. When she does ANYTHING, she gives her all until she achieves it, and I have NEVER seen her quit ANYTHING my entire life! She is going to undergo extensive rehabilitation and will need continuous care once she goes home. As we all know, bills do not care how hurt you are or how amazing of a person you are, and she deserves all the help she can get so she won’t have to worry about funds due to her not being able to go back to work for a while, if ever!
Not only is Brenda my amazing mother, she is my best friend, Grammy Bren to her beautiful granddaughter Cora Lynn, and her entire family and friends have had our world turned completely upside down by this unimaginable tragedy that has happened to such an amazingly beautiful and healthy person! Please help us make her life easier as she does not need to worry about affording not only her bills but the care she deserves as she starts focusing on getting back to her life by donating if you can and by sharing this to everyone, everywhere!
