help Dozer has cancer and needs surgery

I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my dog, Dozer.

Dozer is a gentle giant, who’s very well loved. Not only has Dozer been a companion, he’s also been a source of comfort to our family and many people in our community and across Canada.

He is a 5 year-old American Bully who has recently been diagnosed with oral Fibrosarcoma, after a 5 year battle with allergy-related health issues. Fibrosarcoma is an aggressive type of cancer in dogs that affects connective tissue and results in malignant tumours. For Dozer, it appears as a tumour on his snout, extending into his eye and mouth. Without surgery, the tumour will continue to grow, causing further issues and drastically limiting his lifespan.

The most effective treatment for Dozer would involve getting a CT scan followed by a surgery called a “maxillectomy”. The CT scan will show how much tissue has been affected and will help to determine the most appropriate surgical approach, if the surgery is even possible as the tumour might’ve grown too much. We are looking at about $4,000 for the CT scan. If surgery is an option, the estimated cost of surgery is $8,000 and that’s without any issues that could potentially occur during or after the surgery. These costs are overwhelming due to his size (150lbs), as is everything else from scans to medications.

As he’s young and still so full of life and love, I know I have to try everything in order to get this help for him. Despite his health struggles he continues to exhibit so much strength and resillence, while trying his hardest to not let this affect his day-to-day life.

We’re starting with the goal of $4,000 for the CT scan, and if surgery is possible, we will increase the goal and share updates as we go.
