Dear friends, former bandmates, and choir alums,
It's been a very long year and many of know plenty of people who have fallen on hard times because of the lack of meaningful work. The arts community has been hit particularly hard, add music with teaching and church work and you have the perfect storm of hard times.
Our friend, mentor, teacher and all around genuinely noble human being, Marcos Mendoza has fallen on just such times. Having been barely able to scrape together some masses on the weekends and some piano lessons Marcos has been only been able to manage car payments and the barest necessities. He has been living with kind friends out of their generosity but due to circumstances beyond anyone's control things must change and must change quite soon.
We have all once or twice benefitted from Marcos' generosity whether it be getting us to school or masses, paying for a lunch we couldn't afford, loaning us time and talent when we couldn't manage to pay for a funeral or wedding or any other number of things. Marcos is always there whenever anyone needs him. We know surely that he has changed the life of many of by teaching us the music we have spent a lifetime enjoying, making and turning into our very own employment.
It is impossible to adequately convey the passion Marcos has for helping young people find their course in life. Lord knows that if we tried to add up the time Marcos has spent on young people and the church's needs and put a dollar sign on it that Marcos would be quite a wealthy man. Alas the most precious things in life as our time, compassion and talent are rarely quantifiable.
If you are able and you have the means to do so please help our dear DOZE. Whatever you can give will help very much to get him on his feet and perhaps find a good place to stay. Honestly, wherever would we have been without him?
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
