Downpayment Help for Carla's First House

Friends, I have long dreamed of owning a home but, despite a credit score my mortgage broker says is "just showing off", a student loan the size of a mortgage has long held me back. I've worked hard to whittle that down enough to feel comfortable finally investing in secure housing for myself!

Yesenia has another 10 months on her lease and we're not u-haulers :-) but we hope to share this place down the road. There's even a back building for her recording studio and beloved elfa-shelving (next to the chicken coop she calls the "Spider House That Must Go!). You'll see her name on the fundraiser, since "let's make sure no one is money laundering" rules mean I can't get a bunch of random transactions to my account, so my mortgage broker recommended this as a solution.

New Braunfels housing prices are beyond my reach, but Seguin is the next up-and-coming hot spot and there's an adorable little 1930's 836 sq ft house 20 minutes from the church that I'm currently buying (pray for me!) With interest rates as they are, it'll be another 2 years or so before I can re-fi, so I need to put as much as I can toward the down payment by Wednesday May 10th to allow me to breathe a little easier each month. As many of you know, this whole thing is TERRIFYING to do, but I know I'm worth the stability, and it's beyond time for that!!!

Having never owned a home, I have no equity built up to put toward this down payment, but have saved up quite a bit and still could use help with a little more. I don't anticipate getting all of this amount, but every little bit helps and, if you don't ask, ya never know. As one friend said, "You've got a lot of friends. Do a fundraiser and let us help." So, I'm coming hat-in-hand asking for just that from my tribe.

My dad tells the story of the local banker wanting my family to move to my hometown so badly he helped build and then carried the note on my family's first home for a year...no strings! I'm looking for a little similar ju-ju, and am grateful to all of you, in advance, for any little bit of help you can provide.

And, for the very clear privilege that comes with this ask, I commit to continue doing what I can to bring more good into this world and using this home as a cave to re-charge, re-connect, and then go back out to do just that.
