I’ve been under-employed since being laid-off from my last full-time job in 2008. I continually hit a brick wall because of my age and lack of a degree. But I continue to create things of beauty and humor and I truly believe that we need to put down the phones and get back to writing people a note of thanks, an expression of joy, a birthday wish or a sharing of sympathy. I am trying to get two lines of cards and postcards off the ground and into a store or up on the web, but I am hindered by a secondhand computer with an antiquated OS and old software, and an old browser that can’t be upgraded. There is simply no money here for new equipment; what little I have goes into paying the mortgage, etc. This has been a difficult decision; I do not like to ask for money but feel I have no choice. The cards, which are nicely designed and range from artsy to humorous, are popular with the people to whom they have been sent. I have fans. Thus far, they have all been produced at home, off my printer, at some cost (paper and toner). If anyone would care to contribute to the fund for a new computer and software, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It would mean the world to me.
