Dover Doers' Hanging Basket Project

My name is Deborah Clough and I lead a group called Dover Doers. We are volunteers offering our time and talent to beautify Downtown Dover. Some of you may know that last summer, we had ten rail boxes on the Central Avenue bridge. Unfortunately, thieves and vandals caused ongoing loss and frustration. Knowing we had to pivot on account of that, last fall, I reached out to Dover Career & Technical Center with a vision for how to reimagine the project in a way that would allow us to continue. Nicole Witham and her welding students were able to create a custom bracket for us to hang baskets from. We now have ten brackets primed and painted. We have selected a commercial, made in USA, self-watering hanging basket. At this time, we have one bracket and one hanging basket installed on the Joe B. Parks side of the bridge. Timing is not always ideal, but we will have funding to purchase nine more baskets needed to complete the project on July 1st. Since some people have asked what it would take to get all ten hanging baskets up before July 1st, I am creating this gofundme. The total amount needed is $1,922. Although I would like to see the project completed before July 1st, I recognize it is a large goal. If this does not come to pass, we will continue as planned, and the hanging baskets will be purchased on July 1st and hung as soon as received. Thank you for your interest in this project.
