I’m Anita Dodge, Doug’s wife, and I’m hoping a Go Fund Me will save my husband’s life.  On April 7th Doug’s heart stopped causing him to collapse and break his nose in three places.  That was both good and bad since he was alone in the shop, but it jolted his heart into beating again.  Surgery was performed to place a stent in one of his arteries but further testing revealed he also has a 5cm aortic aneurysm in his heart, and a valve needs replacing.  Without surgery he has a life expectancy of maybe 2 years although another attack could happen anytime.  They are recommending surgery as soon as possible but will not schedule it until he has half the funds required. The quote for this open-heart surgery is more than $ 150,000. On top of this are additional costs for recovery time and follow up care.

Unfortunately, Doug does not have health insurance to cover medical costs and the hospital is requiring half the cost up front which has already been required for testing as well.  The procedure is only done with open heart surgery which will keep him from working for about 2 to 3 months. 

All attempts have been made to acquire funding sources or insurance but it has not worked out.  We are reaching out to community, friends, family and anyone able to help us through this Go Fund Me.
