Daughter's Determination to Rally Round Dad, Douglas Quade (in Lieu of Benefit)
As some may know, last June our father (and devoted grandfather) became very sick and had to have a lifesaving surgery. He has fought hard and has been in fair health since. The surgery affected his strength and ability to work full time leaving a huge financial burden. He persisted and recovered with minimal medical effects. Unfortunately, we just received more dreadful news. This month he went in to the doctor for a routine visit and shockingly has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal colorectal metastic cancer. He is starting vigorous treatments of chemotherapy immediately, and will need lots of family support, rides to and from treatments and help with extensive medical costs and associated expenses. He has not been working and has to officially end his employment at his job with friends and customers (Ace Hardware in Pulaski) that he enjoys greatly. Our family is doing as much as we can, exhausting all financial options available to us, but we are afraid that’s not enough.
Anyone who knows Doug, our dad, knows he has always been a very hard, dedicated, blue-collar worker who would never ask anyone for anything; but would give a stranger the shirt off of his back. He lives the “simple” life, with no internet or smartphone in the home he built with his own two hands in Redfield, NY. We are doing everything we can to keep him in his home during this time. Doug is unaware that his two very loving, very heartbroken daughters are seeking support for their hero from friends, family and kind souls who can relate to the devastation cancer brings to families. This page is in lieu of a benefit. Doug is too humble and prideful to have a benefit on his behalf; it would break his spirit, dignity and unique sense of humor.
