On Sunday, June 26, a beautiful summer day, Doug Murken was enjoying his motorcycle ride home when a driver who was texting swerved and hit him head on.
The driver of the vehicle was not only texting but was found to be in possession of heroin.
Doug suffered devastating injuries, requiring him to be airlifted to Hackensack Medical Center. He is lucky to be alive, but may never be able to work again.
Doug is the primary financial provider for his wife Elaine and disabled daughter, Ashley. Due to her disabilities Ashley is unable to work and Elaine works part time as a lunch server at a local school. She is out of work for the summer.
I am hoping to raise enough money to help Doug's family pay their rent and bills as well as help make a dent in what is sure to be a mountain of medical bills. This man should not watch his family become homeless because of the careless actions of someone else.
