For the family of Douglas Turner

Douglas Turner, a loving husband, father and friend, passed away on January 18, 2023 after nearly a decade-long battle with his health. Doug was surrounded by his wife, children and close friends when he passed and in the months prior.

Atalie was the love of Doug’s life and, even as his health declined, he would find creative ways to provide for his family. They enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, swimming in the creek, drive-in movies and playing online games together. Having friends and family over for cookouts was something they especially loved to do together.

Doug raised five children and was a father figure to many more. His love came from his heart, not his DNA. He was great at giving helpful life guidance and supported his children’s interests. He encouraged them to strive for more in life.

Doug loved people and people loved him. He never met a stranger and, even if he had only met you once, he would remember you years later. He had a big presence in online gaming and made friends all over the world. He was known for his sense of humor and you could see the mischief rising when he was about to say or do something humorous.

No time could have prepared his family for the expenses they will now be facing. His wife, Atalie Steward Turner, has been his sole caretaker for over 9 years which has limited her ability to stay in the workforce. His Hospice nurse, chaplain and social worker were pivotal in helping him with options and hard decisions in his final months. This GoFundMe will help assist her in paying the bills and property upkeep while she gets reestablished. Your donations will also help give Doug the burial service and Remembrance Gathering he wanted and deserves. This will take place on May 13th, 2023.
