Remembering Douglas Rutt

On July 27, 2018 my father, Douglas Rutt, lost his battle with the ugly monster named Cancer.

Cancer took his life but never his spirit. In the last month of his life, he went to the rodeo with us, he got gifted tickets to the US Senior Open and walked 4 miles around the course, spent time with his granddaughters at the zoo on a sunny 95 degree afternoon, and played countless games of UNO with our family…which he always won. His decision to use alternative healing instead of chemo was a quality of life decision that he did not regret. He definitely lived fully until the day he died.

Doug and his wife Theresa gave up their jobs, their insurance and their lives in Pennsylvania in March of 2018 to spend his last months with us in beautiful Colorado so he could reconnect with his sons and get to know his six grandchildren better.

Doug had worked every day of his adult life to provide for his family. He was only 59 year old. Unfortunately, what little money they had was spent on doctors visits and emergency rooms. Without insurance, the money disappeared rapidly.

So many people loved Doug! He touched so many lives with his humor, his support, and his incredible spirit! He will be greatly missed by countless people, in Colorado and in Pennsylvania.

Donations will be used to help offset his outstanding medical expenses, his final expenses, and if possible to help relieve some of the financial burden Theresa will face during this most unfortunate and heartbreaking time.
