Help Douglas Gerard Heal
Donation protected
In the early hours of June 19, 2018, my brother, Douglas "Dougie" Gerard Sapp, my brother, was driving his car down a rural road in Washington State. As he was making a left hand turn towards a local gas station, he was struck by a car that was driving at an "excessive" rate of speed, which caused his car to flip and end up in a ditch upside down. He was entrapped in his car and had to be extracted with the "Jaws of Life" and was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Seattle Washington. He has had 4 surgeries with another 1 to 2 to go. He has had a partial removal of his bowl, his spleen removed, repairs to his liver and kidney, and back surgery due to multiple fractures of his pelvis, and his pelvic bone being separated from his spine. He has a very long road ahead, but his survival alone is truly a miracle. He is a brother, uncle, and friend to many. He had an active life amongst his community. This accident left many in a state of awe. This GoFundMe is being created to help in the travel expenses that will be needed in order for us, his family, to be able to tend to him during this recovery. This will also create a pot of money for Gerard to have while he heals. He moved to Washington and has had a very supportive extended family through his church, Grace Point Church, his Mason Brotherhood at Warren G Harding Masonic Lodge, his Barista's at Majestic Mountain Coffee Roaster and the owners Randy and Shelbe, and Pual and Sandi who Gerard looks up to as his extended parents, plus an overwhelming outcry of friends he has created relationships with along the way. Their support through this trying time shows us Gerard is loved, and has truly found a great place to call home. We do not want to disrupt this, and yet want to be there to provide our own support through this critical period of time. After this horrific event occurred, many reached out wanting to know how they can help him and our family, and so I chose to create this request. If all you can do is just share this post, that is doing more than enough and is truly appreciated. We want to be by our brothers side as much as we can, and hope that those who would like to help can have the option to do so. From our family to yours, thank you for love and support.
