Recently Doug was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He began his battle with chemo and radiation. It took a toll on his body. Not able to eat and keep a healthy weight. Last friday Abbey took him in for a procedure to get a feeding tube. On the way to that appointment he had several small strokes on the right side of his brain. This has left him in a lethargic and half paralyzed state and unable to fully comprehend his condition. This leaves Abbey to take care of him. His wishes were to not live in this condition and to stop treatment for his cancer.  What is left now is to keep him in hospice care. Unfortunately his insurance does not cover the hospice treatment center leaving us with a looming bill just to keep him comfortable. The other option was to bring him home. Abbey and I did not wish to subject the children to watch their grandfather go through this suffering time in his life and we are not qualified or capable of giving him the care he needs. We are asking for any help anyone could possibly offer. This is my second GoFundMe for this family. First for Abbeys mom BetteJean and now for her Father Douglas. It pains us to even ask for help but we need it and Douglas needs it the most. Please if you can find it in your heart to help our family out this will bring peace of mind to Abbey that her father will have a comfortable stay with his last days on this earth. It would also help with things coming down the road. Funeral services, cremation, and any other bills accrued over this time. Thank you all so much.
