Dougherty/Crosscup family

In the early morning hours of November 1st , the home of Rachel and Dennis Crosscup and their two young children ages 5 and 8 of 171 Forest Street in Middleton caught fire. The damage the fire had done was so extensive that the house needed to be demolished, leaving the family with no personal property.  The family was living in a trailer on the property at the time, awaiting construction after a tree fell on their house earlier in the spring.  At approximately 3:00 a.m., while the family was sleeping in their temporary trailer, their two dogs, Marty and Spud, started barking and pulling at the blankets to wake Dennis and Rachel.  Dennis got up to let them out only to see their house engulfed in flames. They grabbed the kids and ran to a neighbor’s house across the street wearing only their pajamas.  No one was injured but the house needed to be demolished leaving the family with no personal property. The fire appears to have started due to an electrical short. At this time the family is staying with relatives in the area. I am Charlotte Dougherty Inman, Rachel’s sister, and am reaching out for financial help.  All monetary collections will be used for re-establishing the lives of these four people so dear to my heart. In the short-term the children need things like clothing, books, school items, and basic toys. Rachel and Dennis also need clothing and general financial support to help provide for their family in this dire time.  Looking ahead, the climb will be difficult. They must put their family into new housing eventually and rebuild a home. Things like beds and other basic types of furniture will be needed, in addition to upcoming financial obligations. We have many things that we take for granted but when we lose it all,  we’ve really got nothing but each other.  Our family will be forever grateful for any assistance that can be provided.
