Doug and Sky Martel, from Hondah on the White Mountain Apache Reservation, unexpectedly lost their father and are now faced with paying for funeral expenses and living on their own.  They lost their mother in 2016 due to complications resulting from a stroke.  The loss of their remaining parent has put an unfortunate burden on these two young boys.

Doug and Sky are widely known throughout the community for being avid runners (seen running everywhere).  They are positive, friendly, and respectful individuals despite the hardships and tragedy they've had to endure.  Doug has been working and saving money so he can return to college in the spring.  Sky is currently a high school senior at Blue Ridge High School and plans to continue running cross country and track in college after he graduates.
