Douglas Silva is a Brazilian born BMX rider, husband and father of two boys. He and his family live the United States.
Doug and his son have been involved in and racing BMX in the United States for 3 years. Doug’s commitment and dedication to the sport and BMX community is only surpassed by his commitment, love and dedication to his family.
In a season ending wreck in the 41-45 Cruiser Quarterfinal round at the Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Doug shattered his collarbone and ended up needing shoulder surgery. Even with a disappointing end to his season, Doug managed to cap the season with a National Age Group 13th (NAG 13) overall ranking. As anyone who has spent any time near Doug at the track can attest, he is a constant encouragement and generous with his skills and experience, always spending time to help others improve their technique, equipment and enjoyment of BMX.
Doug will certainly apply the same dedication and commitment to his recovery and rehab. As the sole provider for his family, installing and refinishing wood floors in Kansas City area, the recovery time from this accident, makes life more difficult for him and his family for the next several weeks and months.
Doug would surely put the weight of the world on his shoulders to provide for his family before relying on the gifts of others. However, if you have been around this sport of BMX or know Doug at all, you know we don’t leave any rider behind.
If you would like to share your support for Doug and his family as they work hard toward a full recovery and look for a to seeing him back on the track, please feel free to give whatever you would like. On behalf of Doug and his family, May God bless you immensely for your support, prayers and generosity.
