Doug Kirkdorffer Recovery Fund

Hello! I am Steph (Steiner) Rosenberg, best friend of Heidi (Kirkdorffer) Hoffer. On behalf of Doug Kirkdorffer's family, we are starting a recovery fund for Doug Kirkdorffer, who was severely injured in a life-altering car accident on September 7th.

Immediately after the accident, Doug was rushed to Indianapolis because of the gravity of his injuries. Unfortunately, doctors were not able to salvage and save his right arm. He has undergone limb amputation and his right arm is amputated just above the elbow. Additionally, Doug has suffered a broken eye socket, three cracked/broken ribs, and severe bruising. He has experienced excruciating pain and discomfort; however, he has now undergone three arm surgeries with a potential for a fourth and is awaiting surgery for his broken eye socket. Fortunately, Doug's vision is still intact and his spirit is unbroken. Two days after the accident Doug was cracking jokes with the hospital staff - typical Doug!

Nevertheless, Doug has a long recovery journey ahead of him. He has started physical therapy and was able to get up and walk to a chair for about 10 minutes. He said that took it out of him, but was glad to move. His physical therapy and recovery from all of his injuries will intensify from here, but he is expected to be in the hospital at Indianapolis for another three weeks or so depending how everything goes.

The funds raised by this fundraiser will go directly to Doug's immediately family to cover the extensive costs during this time including housing for Bonnie (his wife), Heidi (his daughter), and Chad (his son) while staying with Doug in Indianapolis, food and meals in Indy, gas for traveling back and forth from Indy for Doug's kids, a re-modeling fund for home renovations, and more.

Doug's family is grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community and countless offers of "how can I help?" from many individuals.
