Three years ago, our dad survived a massive stroke that changed all of our lives. Since then, he’s been living in a skilled nursing facility, navigating the long and often difficult road of recovery. While we’re grateful he’s still with us, the journey has come with ongoing challenges—physically, emotionally, and financially.
One of the most pressing needs right now is a set of dentures that would allow him to eat comfortably, speak more clearly, and regain some dignity after everything he’s been through.
All of his Social Security income goes toward the cost of his care, and while my sister and I are already helping as much as we can financially, we simply can’t cover the $1,600 up-front cost for the temporary retainer he needs during the healing process. Unfortunately, Medicaid and Medicare won’t cover this, the dentist doesn’t offer payment plans, and we’ve hit dead ends trying to get additional state aid.
We’ve put it off for months, but the pain and difficulty eating have become too much. We’re now asking for help—something we don’t take lightly—so we can give our dad back just a bit more quality of life and comfort after all he’s endured.
If you’re able to donate or share this post, we would be so grateful. Every contribution brings us one step closer to getting our dad what he needs.
