Hi, I’m Heather, and I’m fundraising for my uncle Dale “Doc” Jones. Last Saturday Doc experienced a series of strokes in addition to a hemorrhage in his brain. He’s now fighting incredibly hard and being treated by an phenomenal team of physicians and nurses but has an extremely long road ahead. His daughter Mollie along with his sister Peggy (my Mom) are handling all of his medical coordination and personal/financial needs at this time. Our goal is to help Doc cover his rent, utilities, and any other personal care needs that might arise as he continues to fight this condition.
Doc is a lifelong resident of Bellingham and an Air Force veteran. He devoted 20 years of volunteer work to the Whatcom Museum as well as time at Threshing Bees in Lynden and has an expansive knowledge of Whatcom County history. From its inception to closure, he was also an active volunteer at the Bellingham Railway Museum providing his model making talents and materials to the displays as well as giving tours. Doc’s animated sense of humor and expansive knowledge on trains, history, aircraft, nature/animals, etc. are what set him apart from all others. Always quick with a joke, ready to share all his skills and abilities with anyone who needs a hand, and his endearing enthusiasm for being outdoors and exploring are just some of the many reasons he has touched the hearts of so many in our community.
Doc retired only months ago after a lifetime as a cook in local restaurants. He’s just begun to enjoy this hard earned retirement and we want to do everything we can to maintain his household and comfort throughout his medical battle. Anything you can donate, even the smallest amount will be appreciated beyond measure. Thanks to you all for your prayers and support!
