Blake Douet Medical Fund
Donation protected
Saturday, April 16, 2022 will be forever etched in the memories of the Douet family. On that day Blake was involved in an accident where a truck hit the horse he was riding resulting in a severe brain injury. During his 46 days at Oschner's Lafayette General in the ICU Blake underwent brain and abdominal surgeries. On June 1, Blake was moved to Louisiana Extended Care Facility where he remains in a comatose state but is showing signs of improvement. It is our prayer that Blake will continue to improve so that he can be moved shortly to New Orleans or Houston to receive extensive neurological rehabilitation.
Blake and his wife Amanda have 4 children, Dylan (19), Evelyn (17), Cole (8) and Finn (6) who all live at home. Amanda is a school teacher with St. Martin Parish and Blake is employed with Poche Prouet and Associates. Over the years, Blake has been very involved in all areas of the community. He has served many years on the St. Martin DeTours Church council along with several committees for the City of St. Martinville and Lafayette. In the past he also served as a youth soccer director and a coach for the St. Martinville Soccer Team and is a current board member for SLCC.
Throughout his life, Blake has always been willing to lend a helping hand and give to those in need. As a personal friend, I have had a front row seat to observe a heart of servant hood that he has extended to so many. I am asking the community to join me and my family in blessing Blake and his family for the service he has given to so many. The monetary donation will assist the family with the mounting medical bills along with the cost of transportation and lodging for Blake's future needs. Your donation along with your prayers for Blake's rehabilitation will be appreciated and always remembered.
