✨ SUPPORT LAILA KOBE SOAKAI ZOVICH’S JOURNEY TO UC BERKELEY
Help a Young Tongan/American Leader Break Barriers and Build Bridges
"I am the first in my family to attend UC Berkeley. I’m not just going to college — I’m bringing my whole community with me."
— Laila Soakai Zovich

Laila Soakai Zovich, a proud Tongan American daughter of the Inland Empire, has earned her place at UC Berkeley — one of the most prestigious universities in the country. She's not just showing up — she's leading.

A soon to be graduate of Chaffey High School and a rising Environmental Science Scholar, Laila has spent most of her young years building change before stepping foot on a college campus. She’s been a youth speaker, mental health advocate, and grassroots community organizer. From co-facilitating youth summits to representing her Pacific Islander community in statewide coalitions, Laila has already done what many don’t accomplish in a lifetime — and she’s just getting started.

THE GOAL
We are raising $20,000 by July 30 to cover Laila’s housing, books, school fees, and living expenses at Berkeley.
Thanks to a generous matching donor, every dollar will be doubled — up to $20,000!

WHY LAILA — WHY NOW?
Laila’s dream is to earn her degree in Environmental Science and return to the Inland Empire to serve not only the Pacific Islander community but pay it forward for all — creating programs, empower, and uplift others like her.

She is:

✅ The first Tongan youth from her organization to attend Berkeley
✅ A youth mental health advocate and peer educator on vaping, equity, and self-worth
✅ A trusted voice for health equity and racial justice across Inland Empire
✅ A leader with the MALO Non profit organization, who helped her community and showed up during Covid Pandemic and now helping bring health and preventative resources to community
✅ A powerful youth speaker who has presented at local and statewide summits

For Laila the hardest part isn’t just getting in — it’s being able to afford to stay.

This is our chance to come together, surround her with support, and say: We believe in you, Laila.
