Our friend Jimm needs our help.
As most of you know he has put it all out there on FB for all of us to know where he's at with his health issues. (it's important for us in recovery to let people know where we are at in our lives)
Well, I think without a lot of us realizing it, he pays for his cancer meds out of pocket, leaving virtually nothing left for emergency situations. On Thursday, he wrote this on FB (I left a few minor/irrelevant details out to shorten this explanation):
"My car has been broke down since July 9th, at Galano. On July 15th, got it jumped and drove it home. On July 16th had to jump it again. On July 17th had to jump it again. On July 18th, it wouldn't jump. Had it towed to the mechanic shop. Today, July 19th, found out it isn't the battery or the transmission. It is the engine. It is dead!
I prayed for a solution, asked God for help. After my desperate prayer, I said (out loud), "Grandfather, I'm not rich!" Then I heard what I had said...I have a friend who worked in the car business, who's named is Rich.
I called him. He asked lots of questions, many of which I could not answer. He gave me several options, some I didn't qualify for, most of which I couldn't afford. Then he suggested a lease/purchase. Said it might be my best option with my medical bills being so high.
He gave me a name and number to call, so I called and spoke with the guy, he asked me to come in on Monday and bring some paperwork he asked for.
If this is the route God has put in front of me, I will need to put down a deposit. Not sure what that amount would be, but if it's more than $200, I may be in trouble. I asked Grandfather for direction/solution and he instantly gave me direction. Now I ask for your prayers as well. If this is the route that God has given me, please pray that I can afford this solution.
Thanks to all. Blessings. Double M"
As a friend in recovery, and because Jimm could not/cannot find it in himself to ask his friends for funds to help him through this, I asked if I could do it for him! Thankfully, after others suggested it, he has reluctantly agreed.
The amount posted on this page is not specific to any amount he has been given for a car down payment. As noted above, he will not know that amount until Monday. Most likely he will not need this entire amount for a vehicle down payment, but if we can help him pay for some of his expensive C-meds, it would be an act of love & kindness to do so.
I think I can speak for Jimm in letting you know of the deep gratitude he has in his heart regarding this. He still doesn't really understand how this thing works, but like our program, we aren't suppose to be able to figure it out! God's in charge!
