Double Lung Transplant Needed 6 Months to live
Donation protected
My name is Barbara Russ and the man in the picture is my partner of 27 years. In November of 2023, he got Covid and has gone downhill from there. In November of 2024, he ended back in the hospital, MUSC this time. We found out he has less than 6 months left without a double lung transplant.
He has COPD, chronic hypoxia respiratory failure, pulmonary hypertension, and interstitial lung disease. He also has an aortic aneurysm. The transplant team doctors at MUSC are currently working double time to even get him on the transplant list. He’s dying. He has always been a hard worker, owning an electrical contracting business. But now, even with oxygen, he can’t walk 10-15 feet. He takes care of everyone: his adult son, one of my sons, and my brother. Always helping people in the grocery store, auto repair shop bills, just anything he could do to help, he did it. The business had to be temporarily shut down because he just can’t do it right now. And being in business since 1982, the stress is taking a toll as well. He worries about bills, food, electric, etc., just normal stuff that we didn’t ever have to worry about.
We really need your help. Anything that you can do will help us with his rising out-of-pocket medical bills.
I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read his story and again, anything would help right now.
