Double jaw surgery for Kael
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jaël and I’m raising money for double jaw surgery for my son, Kael.
When Kael was a toddler, he injured his jaw from a fall and unfortunately the pediatrician didn’t catch his injury. Years later, this injury causes pain and discomfort, as well as misalignment which makes it difficult for Kael to eat, sleep and sometimes even talk.
We started investigating treatment options for Kael years ago but COVID hit and surgeries of this type were no longer allowed during that time. In addition to that, his oral surgeon retired and we had to find him a new oral surgeon, putting him at the back of the waiting list.
He’s now been reassessed by his new oral surgeon for double jaw surgery, and while OHIP is covering approximately $85,000 of the surgery costs and insurance covers a small part of the surgery costs, there are over $16,000 in uncovered surgery costs remaining.
As a single mother trying to get 3 kids through school, this cost exceeds what I can cover alone. Kael can’t have the surgery until we can come up with $10,000 of the uncovered fees, to begin with. I’m looking at multiple ways of raising the money to cover these uncovered costs, as well as a payment plan for some of the costs, but am appealing to anyone who can help to contribute to Kael’s surgery so that we can more quickly ease his pain and give him a better quality of life.
Thank you for any amount you are willing to donate.
