Double Eye Surgery for Sweet Oliver Finn

It's very hard to create this gofundme as I have wrestled with this decision for sometime. I am someone who helps any and all the animals who show up. Currently I care for 8 felines. (There is only one left to be trapped and vetted in the spring.)

Let me introduce you to sweet Mr Oliver Finn. He was rescued from a harsh life on the streets as a young kitten. In the past two years he has grown into the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet and adapted well to the safe and spoiled life indoors. In the summer of 24, just as after his 2nd birthday, I had noticed his eyes changing in appearance. Taking him immediately to his vet who then after examining and consulting with others could not tell what was going on with his eyes but did full testing, prescribed some initial medicine, and referrals to eye specialists.

Finding an eye specialist and going to at least 1 doctor visit a month and trying various medical remedies for his failing eyesight has not yielded any positive results. His eyes continue to deteriorate. At this point he is blind in both eyes. He is on different eye drops and pain medication daily.

I was so hopeful that with his age and great health that we could save his vision but his condition is genetic. He has a congenital primary form of glaucoma. His eyes were always going to fail as they did not grow properly, retain fluid, pressurize his eyes, nerve damaged, and cause him pain. He will never regain any sight. With all the medical treatments and doctor visits we tried it has taken quite the financial toll.

Ultimately the decision to have double eye removal is what has been decided to be the last option. March 5th is the earliest we can have that done. We will have his eyes biopsied so they can study his eyes in hope for one day being able to help more felines who suffer from the same disease. There are less options for cats than for dogs and humans.

The estimate for his surgery is $3300 give or take 10% for the unknown variables in surgery. I am hoping that you can share his go fund me to raise awareness or donate to Olivers double eye surgery.
