Double Dose Distress
Donation protected
My name is Tammie Nelson, and I am posting this request on behalf of my grandson, Sam Davis, AND his mother, my daughter Barbie Davis. Sam has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer.
Sam turned 21 years old this year. Sam had a good job in management at Dollar General, his own apartment with a pet cat and dog. He had dreams just like all of us. Then he began to have problems breathing so he went to see a doctor and they found it right away. A mass the size of a softball is in his chest, as well as a cluster of cancerous nodes that was found on his back shoulder/neck area. Sam was completely unaware of that one. Sam had State Medical Aid but they dropped him right after he was diagnosed. They said he made too much money without considering that in a couple of weeks he won't be able to make any money at all and for an unknown amount of time. Following that, all the tests began with multiple long distant trips to Paducah KY, as well as 2 surgeries - 0ne to remove the cluster on his shoulder and the second to place a port in his chest. Already a big setback for all the days off work for Sam and his mom. They live like most people – paycheck to paycheck. And we all know it only takes one week of lost wages for financial ruin to take its root. His mom, Barbie, has not left her son’s side since the beginning. And it’s going to get worse as chemo treatment begins within the next 2 weeks. But just this past Friday (Aug 11) we had a double scare...Sam's mom, Barbie went to the ER for horrible back pain and ended up getting a rushed appointment within 2 days to Nashville TN to an Oncologist. They found a mass the size of an iPad wrapped from her ovary to her spine. The Oncologist is quite confident it is a giant cyst with 10 lbs of fluid around it. She will have surgery in the next 2-3 weeks to have the cyst and an ovary removed. The ovary that they believe has caused the cyst. At that time a biopsy will be done and if they find anything abnormal, they will remove both her ovaries. Either way, she will be at least 4 weeks off work for recovery after the surgery. The bills won’t wait for cancer or surgeries. There is still rent, utilities, phone bills, car payments, insurance, gas and groceries to contend with. The gasoline alone is eating away at all they have. So it is my deepest prayer that reaching out to all of you for financial aid will be the greatest charity blessing of love and support for Sam AND his mom as they go through a most difficult time. And if you are not in a position to help financially, you can still be a great blessing by keeping them in your prayers. I cannot express my gratitude enough, there is just no words, but I thank you now, you hold my heart.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
