Double Car Thefts and Dexter’s Amputation
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Chelsea Chandler and I am writing this on behalf of my family which includes my husband, Derrick, young daughter, Emily, and infant son, Oliver.
We have recently experienced a series of traumatic events that have caused financial burden to our family.
First, both of our family’s vehicles were stolen. Local police support has been minimal and this entire process has been very lengthy resulting in rental car costs that go well beyond our insurance coverage. Likewise, the criminals have come back to our property attempting to steal one of our rental vehicles at least 3 times. We are terrified in our own home. The police have told us if we want to protect our family, we can’t count on them which leads to another set of expenses such as an updated security system and conceal carry classes for my husband and I.
While we were busy dealing with all being a victim of car theft entails, our family experienced another tragic event.
Our cat Dexter was napping outside on our property when a neighbor dog viciously attacked him right in front of our two year old daughter and my husband. It was extremely traumatic for all involved, except the dog who continued to jump all over Derrick and Emily post attack.
After an emergency vet visit and surgical consult, Dexter had to have a leg amputated as the damage to his back left knee was irreversible. Our neighbor is not taking any responsibility and said she would never be able to pay back the $2000 of costs in her lifetime anyways. We can, and most likely will, take her to civil court, but that is more costs adding up that we do not currently have the means to support.
I could write several more paragraphs about what has occurred, but it’s honestly hard to continue reliving these events over and over again.
If you find it in your heart and in your bank account to donate, my family would be eternally grateful. Thank you.
