It breaks my heart to write this, because putting it into words makes it all feel too real. Our sweet pup, Dottie, has been bravely fighting lymphoma for the past two years. She’s beaten it twice and gone into remission, but at her most recent check‑up we received news we were hoping not to hear. The cancer is back.
The good news is that we caught it early, and her doctor believes she’s a strong candidate for another round of chemotherapy — with a real chance of going into remission again. The hard part is that after years of treatments, our savings are nearly gone, and the cost of chemo is overwhelming.
Some people might think it’s unusual to spend so much on a dog, but Dottie has never been “just a dog” to us. She is family. She is joy on the hardest days. Every time she gets the zoomies, wiggles her whole body with excitement, chases her favorite ball, or perks up at the sound of a car ride, she reminds us she still has so much life and fight left in her.
When we brought her home at three months old, I promised I would take care of her for her whole life. I’m trying my best to keep that promise.
If you’re able to donate or even just share this page, it would mean the world to us. We simply want to give Dottie the chance she deserves to keep fighting.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
